On the eve of New Year’s Eve, Temple Terrace police department seeks to lock up drunk drivers. To do so, authorities with the police department will stage a DUI checkpoint on Friday, December 30, 2011 from midnight to 4 AM in the area of 56thStreet and Whiteway Drive (http://goo.gl/A6gAW)
Authorities in Temple Terrace will participate in the checkpoint because “The Temple Terrace Police Department recognizes that DUI is a serious public safety problem and that Hillsborough County has consistently ranked among the top counties in the state for alcohol related crashes,” according to spokesperson Michael Dunn. The police department seeks to conduct the high visibility checkpoint to make the public aware that drunk drivers will be arrested.
